Full Day Charter Fishing in Fort Lauderdale

When you want more time to explore offshore waters, target different species, and experience everything South Florida fishing has to offer, a full day fishing charter is the way to go.

Second Wynnd Fishing Charters offers private 8-hour fishing trips in Ft. Lauderdale for groups of up to six guests. With a day on the water, we have more flexibility to travel farther offshore, explore different fishing grounds, and change techniques throughout the trip.

Whether you're hoping to catch mahi, reel in a powerful grouper, or experience the thrill of offshore sport fishing, Captain Preston and his team will build your trip around the season, current fishing conditions, and your goals.

What to Expect on Full Day Fishing Trips

With eight hours available, we can explore different areas, target multiple species, and adjust our approach as conditions change. We often begin by heading offshore in search of mahi, tilefish, grouper, snapper, and other deepwater species.

Depending on what's biting, we may spend part of the day trolling offshore before switching to deep dropping or reef fishing. Our crew handles the equipment, prepares the bait, and provides assistance throughout the trip.

Whether you're an experienced angler or fishing offshore for the first time, we'll help you make the most of your time on the water.

What Fish Can You Catch?

One of the most exciting parts of fishing off the South Florida coast is the variety of species found throughout the year. The fish we target depend on seasonal migrations, water temperatures, weather conditions, and where the baitfish are moving.

Although no catch is guaranteed, here are some of the species we may encounter during a trip.

Mahi Mahi

Known for their bright colors and acrobatic fights, they are a favorite among offshore anglers. They are most common during warmer months and often gather around weed lines, floating debris, and schools of baitfish.

Snapper

Snapper are popular reef fish known for their aggressive bites and excellent eating quality. Found around reefs, wrecks, and rocky structures, they offer an exciting fishing experience for beginners and experienced anglers.

Sailfish

Sailfish are prized for their powerful runs and impressive jumps. Winter is generally the best time to target these fish around Ft. Lauderdale, often using live bait.

Grouper

Powerful bottom-dwelling fish found around reefs, wrecks, and deepwater structures. Day trips provide more opportunities to target these species in deeper offshore waters.

Tilefish

Golden tilefish live along the muddy ocean floor in deep offshore waters. Targeting these fish typically requires specialized deep dropping equipment, making them an excellent option for anglers interested in exploring deeper fishing grounds.

How We Fish During an 8 Hour Charter

With a full day available, we're not limited to one fishing technique or inshore location. Captain Preston considers recent fishing activity, ocean temperatures, currents, and seasonal patterns to determine which methods offer the best opportunities.

Offshore Trolling: We pull bait or artificial lures behind the boat while covering productive waters. This technique can attract mahi, tuna, wahoo, sailfish, and other pelagic species.

Live Bait Fishing: Live bait can be particularly effective for attracting sailfish, kingfish, tuna, and other predators. We adjust bait presentations based on where fish are feeding.

Deep Dropping: Using specialized equipment, we lower bait into deep offshore waters to target species such as snowy grouper, golden tilefish, and deepwater snapper.

Reef and Wreck Fishing: Fishing around underwater structures allows us to target bottom-dwelling species.

Having eight hours gives us the flexibility to combine techniques, explore different locations, and adapt when conditions change.
