Half Day Charter Fishing
You don't need to spend an entire day on the water to enjoy some of the best fishing South Florida offers. We offer a shorter fishing charter that gives you four hours to experience offshore fishing, catch exciting game fish, and enjoy the Atlantic Ocean.
We offer private day charter fishing trips in Fort Lauderdale for groups of up to six. Whether you're an experienced angler, visiting South Florida, or taking your kids fishing for the first time, our crew will help you make the most of your time on the water.
One of Ft. Lauderdale's biggest advantages is how quickly we can reach productive fishing grounds. Deep Atlantic waters are located just offshore, allowing us to spend less time traveling and more time fishing.
What to Expect on Half-Day Fishing Trips
Our half-day charter offers two options on the water with Captain Preston. Each trip is private, with morning and afternoon departures available.
Charter Times:
A.M.: 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Afternoon: 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Your trip begins at Cox's Landing in Ft. Lauderdale. After a brief safety overview, we'll head toward the fishing grounds. Fortunately, deep water is close to shore, allowing us to spend more time fishing and less time traveling.
Depending on the season and conditions, we may troll offshore, fish local reefs, or use live bait to target larger game fish. Our team handles the equipment, prepares the bait, and provides hands-on assistance throughout the trip, making it enjoyable for beginners and experienced anglers alike.
What Fish Can You Catch?
One of the most exciting parts of fishing off the South Florida coast is the variety of species found throughout the year. The fish we target depend on seasonal migrations, water temperatures, weather conditions, and where the baitfish are moving.
Although no catch is guaranteed, here are some of the species we may encounter during a trip.

Mahi Mahi
Known for their bright colors and acrobatic fights, mahi mahi are a favorite among offshore anglers. They are most common during warmer months and often gather around weed lines, floating debris, and schools of baitfish.

Tarpon are known for their powerful runs, impressive jumps, and challenging fights. Commonly found in South Florida's coastal and inlets, these fish are especially active during summer and are a favorite among sport fishermen.

Sailfish
Sailfish are prized for their powerful runs and impressive jumps. Winter is generally the best time to target these fish around Ft. Lauderdale, often using live bait.

Snapper
Snapper are popular reef fish known for their aggressive bites and excellent eating quality. Found around reefs, wrecks, and rocky structures, they offer an exciting fishing experience for beginners and experienced anglers.

Wahoo are among the fastest fish in the ocean, known for their powerful strikes. While longer trips offer more opportunities, they can occasionally be caught on half-day charters when conditions are favorable.
